AND VIGINTI COMES OUT IN JUNE!!!

3.17.2009

A Sneak Peek

I'd like to give you (my blog readers) a little update on a project I've been working on. By April, I am beginning the publishing process for my very first book that should be completely finished by July.

The book will be called Viginti.

The subtitle is...
A Young Man's Collection of Spiritual and Academic Expressions.

Here's what it's all about...

Viginti” is the Latin word for the number twenty. This book is a collection of spiritual and academic expressions that were written during my short twenty years of life. Parts of this collection are funny – so feel free to laugh. Parts of this collection are deeply spiritual – so talk with God as you read. Parts of this collection are challenging – so be prepared to think. My generation is an extremely “random” generation. This collection of spiritual and academic expressions might seem random and therefore stereotypical of my generation. To some extent, that’s very true. However, writing a completely random book on random ideas is not what Viginti is about.Viginti is a physical expression of the Apostle Paul’s encouragement to a young pastor in 1 Timothy 4:12 which says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity” (NIV). Now, I do NOT have speech, life, love, faith, and purity all figured out… that is not why I quote this verse. This verse shows us that God just might want to use a young pastor-in-training to step up, reach out, and take some risks. Viginti is quite risky. Please do not mistake my zeal for arrogance; that would be the greatest tragedy of this project. Despite the risks that come with writing a book at age twenty, I believe that God wants to use me in spite of all my sinfulness. God is in the business of taking unclean dishes (like me) and serving up spiritual meals so the world may “taste and see that He is good.” So, with confidence in Christ alone – I give you Viginti.

Pre-orders should be starting really soon - hopefully April - I'll get the information out as soon as I can. Currently, I'm on Spring Break in Michigan - I'll be in Tennessee from Tuesday-Saturday - and then I'll be back in Scranton, PA on Sunday spending time with my sister at her church

Friend from Florida State University

My friend Dan Roberts is a runner for the Florida State Seminoles. Dan is asking that people pray for him as he tries to witness to his teammates – so I thought I’d ask for prayer for him on my blog. Please pray that Dan will be a faithful witness for Jesus Christ and that his teammates will come to Christ as well.
